Roast Duck with Orange Glaze


Ingredients:

- 1 whole duck, about 5-6 lbs

- Salt and pepper

- 1 orange, zest grated and juiced

- 1/4 cup honey

- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder

- Fresh parsley, for garnish


Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

2. Remove giblets from inside the duck cavity and pat the duck dry with paper towels. Season the duck generously with salt and pepper, both inside and out.

3. In a small bowl, mix together the orange zest, orange juice, honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and five-spice powder to make the glaze.

4. Place the duck on a roasting pan, breast side up. Brush the duck all over with the glaze, making sure to coat it evenly.

5. Roast the duck in the preheated oven for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, basting with the glaze every 30 minutes, until the skin is golden brown and crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.

6. Once the duck is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.

7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with the remaining glaze on the side. Enjoy your delicious roast duck with orange glaze!
